Welcome

THE AMAZING STANHOPEAS AND THEIR RELATIVES

February 5, 2011

Steve Fischer

Barney Greer wrote that: “The day my first Stanhopea burst into flower, I couldn’t believe my eyes.  Its huge, savage beauty, its uninhibited perfume, the incredible sculpture of the lip!  The way the buds exploded into life, flaunted their brazen charms like Can Can dancers and then fell in a heap!  This was an ORCHID.  I was hooked.”

You might get hooked too as Steve talks about this incredible group of orchids and how to grow them.  Geatured in the talk will be flying birds (Gongona), bucket orchids (Coryanthes), the dove orchid (Peristeria), as well as Stanhopea and the rest of this unusual subtribe.
